On September 26, 2023, the “6G Collaborative Innovation Seminar" was hosted by CICT Mobile，State Key Laboratory of Wireless Mobile Communications（CICT）and China Mobile Research Institute. With the theme of " Evolution and Development of MIMO ", the seminar focused on the macrolevel paradigm of 6G system, the development trend of the future industry, and the application prospect of key technologies.

On the seminar, CICT Mobile jointly with State Key Laboratory of Wireless Mobile Communications（CICT）and Peking University, released “E-MIMO Technology White Paper”. Combining the development of multi-antenna technology and related support technology in recent years, as well as the development trend of future mobile communication system and business requirements, the white paper analyzes the overall evolution trend of multi-antenna technology and discusses the concept and connotation of Extreme Multiple Input Multiple Output (E-MIMO).

With the deep theoretical research and the emergence of many technologies, the whitepaper points out MIMO technology will be deployed and applied in a wide range of scenarios on a larger scale, and will deeply penetrate into all dimensions of the system. MIMO system will be extended to other dimensions and integrated into the network architecture of next-generation communication systems, realizing the effective expansion of spatial dimension, deep mining of intelligence dimension, significant enhancement of functional dimension and full optimization of energy efficiency dimension. Ultimately, E-MIMO will lay a solid technical foundation for the improvement of performance indicators, the enrichment of service applications, and the flexible deployment of highly differentiated scenarios in next-generation systems.

Since 2020, CICT Mobile, together with State Key Laboratory of Wireless Mobile Communications（CICT）, has released series of 6G white papers with the theme of "Global Coverage, Context-Aware Connection" in the past three years. The first edition was released in 2020, discussing the vision and technology trends of the 6G system; the second edition was released in 2021, exploring the application scenarios, capabilities and technology engines of the 6G system; the third edition was released in 2022, imagining the architecture of the 6G network system; and the fourth edition was released in June 2023, discussing a series of key technologies for the NTN.

More than three months after the last white paper, the fifth edition of the 6G white paper series, E-MIMO White Paper, is released again. As stated in the E-MIMO White Paper, as an important participant in the research, standardization and industrialization of multi-antenna technology, CICT Mobile looks forward to collaborating with industry and academia to focus on the wider future. Jointly promote the further development of MIMO technology and next generation mobile communication systems and related industries.
